Housing
It’s best to provide your beardie with the largest enclosure you can afford and have space for. A 10-15 gallon tank is good enough for a hatchling. However, adults need a 50-55 gallon terrarium. Since they’re only semi-arboreal, the enclosure should be longer than it is tall. You can see our Terrarium and Cages in our

Light
Another important aspect of bearded dragon care is proper lighting. You need a special UVB light for your lizard. Without this, they can’t manufacture vitamin D3 which is essential for calcium metabolism. In addition to UVB light, he will also need a bright daylight bulb. You should provide 14 hours of bright light and 10 hours of darkness. For a better understanding please read the article Bearded Dragon Lights UVB UVA
Temperature
Your dragon needs a temperature gradient in his enclosure. One side should be between 75-85 degrees Fahrenheit, while the other should be 95-100 degrees. At night, the temperature should drop into the low 70s. The basking area should be between 100 and 105 degrees.
Food
Feeding bearded dragons the proper diet is very important. They’re omnivorous, so they eat fruits, vegetables, and insects. You can buy the insects or catch them from outside yourself. Catching them outside may pose a problem since they may have come into contact with pesticides which are harmful to your lizard. Learn more about the bearded dragon diet. Hi, I hae 2 beardys about and one (Moose) is acting odd. I came home today and she was under the UV lights in the corner. I tryed to pick her up but she ran to the other side of the cage and just hit it and kept tapping on the side. I also just put in crickets, but she wasnt even touching them. Usually she runs after them like my other one (Sunny). but today she wasnt even bothered. She turns a darker color when she gets ready to molt but I also notice that the tip of her head, right were he mouth is was a white color. Its not puffy or anything. Just white scales. I thought she might of been blinded some how, but I tested that and its not her eyes. Please Help!!
i got a beardy at the start of the year he is about 25 to 30 cm long and about a year old he has been fine up to now but a few weeks ago he started acting strange he is not eating very much and staying at the cool end of the tank under his log dome and sleeping more and digging at the sand ,he is well in himself he has good colour and bright eyes and very active when he has been out from what i have read i think he wants to start brumation do i have to let him brumate or not i am not sure what to do can you help
hears the thing with “michelle” and “kimberly” …both your dragons are goin through something called brumation.Brumation is a part in their life where they are now 80% meat 20% veggies to 20% meat 80% veggies they wont eat for at least a month i suggest you leave the dragon/s alone and let it do its thing …..its nothing bad that this is happening it lasts a month or two …you might get scared because your dragon will get very skinny ….but after he/she will be fine
I have a bearded dragon i got it the day before christmas 2009 I would like to know how can i tell if it is a girl or boy
My beardie Gizmo is shedding at the moment and is hiding underneath her branch alot! Also, whenever we put our hands in to stroke her or to pick her up she shows the aggressive posture or just runs away! I dont know if its because shes getting irritable because of her shed but its upsetting because we just dont understand why shes doing it? Have you got any advice on what it is and what we should/can do?
Sorry, just to add to my last comment!
Ive been told Gizmo is possibly a girl but shes still only a baby at the moment! Me and my boyfriend are thinking of getting another Beardy to see if this will calm her down and maybe give her a bit of company do you have any advice on this aswell please?
I just got a dragon and am wondering if I should mist him or not I have heard i don’t need to but should I?
nathan, personally i mist my dragon a couple of times a day at least. it stop them dehydrating as they dont really drink much water.
HI.
I just got a dragon and so did my boyfriend, both dragons are in the same tank and has got all the lighting and also got calcium powder that you dip the insects in. I was wondering how many times a week must i give it this calcium powder and how many times a week must we handle our dragons?
